Making it Real: Shalane Hopkins
When I think of successful people in my life, I have no shortage of names. But when I really boil it down, it all comes down to how one defines success. For me, it is about owning who you are and carrying forth. No apologies. No regrets.
You can listen to our conversation here on YouTube.
My friend, Shalane Hopkins, embodies my definition of success. She is a front-lawn camper, NZ tramper. Author. Polymath creative. Business owner. A few times she has woken up with $10 in her pocket, a smile on her face, a new adventure to pursue, and the tenacity to figure it out as she goes.
How did she do it? Through research, resourcefulness, planning and when she had done all that she could…she just gave-er. She did not ask for permission. She ignored the haters. And went for it.
Shalane, I am so fortunate to have known you since we were kids, to see you grow into the strong women you are today. I have always admired you, your authenticity, and always will.
Thank you for investing the time to discuss your journey with my 4th-year students – 15,000 kms and a 15-hour time difference can’t stop us from connecting.
Say ‘hi’ to the cows for us.
Be True. Be You.
